Qui?<\/strong> Giulio Antoniol, professeur \u00e0 polytechnique Montr\u00e9al<\/p>\n\n\n\n Quand?<\/strong> mercredi 20 f\u00e9vrier 2019 \u00e0 12h30<\/p>\n\n\n\n O\u00f9?<\/strong> PK-5115<\/p>\n\n\n\n Titre:<\/strong> Software Engineering for Machine Learning Applications: The road ahead<\/p>\n\n\n\n R\u00e9sum\u00e9:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The First Symposium on Software Engineering for Machine Learning Applications (SEMLA) aimed to create a space in which machine learning (ML) and software engineering (SE) experts could come together to discuss challenges, new insights, and practical ideas regarding the engineering of ML and AI-based systems. Key challenges discussed included the accuracy of systems built using ML and AI models, the testing of those systems, industrial applications of AI, and the rift between the ML and SE communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This talk does a step back: it discusses past contributions and presents future challenges. While AI is becoming more and more pervasive there is an urgent need to define new sound way to ascertain critical software qualities such as reliability of safety. Whenever a software system include machine learning or AI components, the software is only a tiny part of the system while data play a much bigger role. This require a shift in the traditional V&V paradigm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n BIO:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Giuliano Antoniol (Giulio) worked in companies, research institutions and universities such as the Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK, forerly IRST), Dr Giuliano Antoniol published more than 100 papers in journals and international conferences. He recently contributed to start and run the Software Engineering for Machine Learning Applications (SEMLA) and the International Workshop on Machine Learning Systems Engineering (iMLSE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n He is currently Full Professor at the Polytechnique Montreal, where he works in the area of software evolution, empirical software engineering, software
Trento (Italy) and the University of Sannio, Italy. In 2005 he joined the Polytechnique
Montreal and was awarded the Canada Research Chair Tier I in Software Change and Evolution.
He is a member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Software Testing Verification & Reliability, the Journal of Software Maintenance and Evolution:
Research and Practice and the Software Quality Journal. He served also as member of the editorial board of the Empirical software engineering journal, the information and software technology journal and IEEE software.
He served as program chair, industrial chair, tutorial, and general chair of international conferences and workshops. Dr Giuliano Antoniol served
as Deputy Chair of the Steering Committee for the IEEE International Conference on Software Maintenance, International Symposium on Search-Based Software Engineering na the is presently steering committee member of the International Workshop on Search-Based Software Testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
