Title: Deploying Containerized Applications on the Cloud: Issues, Options, and Recommendations

Summary:  A container is an independent runnable unit of a software application, which can be run in any environment that supports a container engine, e.g., Docker. Container is widely used in software industries to facilitate deployment and then mitigate several technical challenges that often come-up with traditional deployment, i.e., deploying non-containerized application. This work focuses on some options to deploy a containerized application on the cloud and then discuss the advantages and disadvantages of some approaches. We provide recommendations to assist software developers or IT administrators make an informed decision about a particular deployment approach.

Biography: Hyacinth Ali is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at McGill University and works as a part-time software engineer at Latece Laboratory, UQAM.
