Titre : Deep Learning: Methodologies and Applications in Medical Imaging

Résumé :

Artificial Neural Networks, although they have been a subject of research since the 1940s and even with applications in different areas of knowledge, fell into disuse in the 70s because they were not able to solve some types of problems in this area of study. However, with the emergence of multi-layered networks, many of these problems have been solved, resulting in the emergence of the term deep learning popularized in the last decade. « Deep learning is a computer technology inspired by the functioning of brain. Multi-layered Artificial neural networks automatically discover patterns in humongous amount of data. Techniques based on deep learning are currently widely applied in many areas of great interest, from voice recognition to image segmentation. This presentation aims at introducing the main methodologies of Deep Learning, in addition of applications related to medical imaging, to wit breast mass and lung nodules classification into whether malignant or benign.
